TEA TIME
This ritual began in England with the Dutchess of Bradford. She began inviting friends to the estate for a cup of tea and a light meal of pastries, breads, and sandwiches in the afternoon after realizing that the gap between a hearty breakfast and a lengthy dinner left her feeling sluggish late in the day. Very soon, Tea Time became an essential part of the afternoon agenda. The importance of Tea Time grew to be mainly cultural and provided an excellent way for a hostess to hone her skills of hospitality.
